Happy Fall! What a great time of year to continue RVing! We are fortunate to live in the Western New York area and one of the perks is having four seasons. Fall is undoubtedly our favorite time of year! The smells, the football, and the fall foliage…how can you go wrong!? One way to enjoy this season is to get out there and Glamp! This is not always easy for us to do as we still have two kids at home who are busy once school starts. Fall in our home is cross country season and boy are our weekends busy! This year however Neal and I were fortunate enough to get a weekend away by ourselves. Extremely rare for us! A couple of our kids went away for a travel meet in Florida which happened to fall on the Columbus Day weekend. Our 15th Anniversary was during this time and we thought it would be romantic, fun and a great opportunity to use the Fifth Wheel to get away…just the two of us! It was not easy to get into an RV resort as many book up for the long weekend. A large number of campgrounds in our area utilize the long weekend as their last weekend for the season as our weather after that is questionable due to the “white stuff” (snow). We were fortunate enough to get into a local resort we have heard so much about called the Triple R RV Resort and Campground. It was only about an hour and a half away from us and nestled in the Allegheny Region of NY. We had heard on the news that the leaves weren’t quite in peak, but boy were they wrong! It is rather a hilly area and driving into Franklinville, NY we were pleasantly surprised to see most of the leaves on the trees showing tons of beautiful colors. What a treat!
We spent an amazing weekend celebrating our anniversary; getting to know each other just together, and adjusting to the new RV. We has so much fun and found there is still so much to do at this time of year when you can sneak away. We do always try to spend some “chill” time whenever we RV, but what we truly love to do when we camp is to get out there and explore the areas we visit, acting like tourists and at the same time, living like locals. It’s worth exploring the area you are visiting to see what festivals are available throughout the year as they give you a flavor of what the town offers. We were fortunate to be near Ellicottville, NY during their Oktoberfest weekend, only about twenty minutes from our RV resort. Ellicottville is a ski town, but has so much going on year round each weekend. We spent a fun day roaming the main street checking out a variety of craft show vendors, exploring the shops in town and getting something to eat. I’m not ashamed to admit we began a little early holiday shopping too! There were so many other events going on around us, from bands performing at the local restaurants/bars to a gondola ride taking folks up the ski lift to enjoy Oktoberfest at the top of the slope! So much fun!
After our time enjoying Ellicottville, and a quick nap, we changed and headed to the Seneca Allegheny Casino and Resort in Salamanca, NY to enjoy a fun night of slots and a delicious dinner at their Italian restaurant called Patria’s. Delish! What was even better about our night at the casino was we left with a little more money than we went in with….what a nice surprise as this never happens! Happy Anniversary to us! Such a great night! Such a great weekend rekindling our relationship as well! Yet another reason to get an RV! It’s a great date night! lol
Many of our Facebook friends have asked us if we enjoy our new Fifth Wheel vs. the Class A we recently traded. What can we say…we made great memories in the Motorhome, but boy do we love the Fiver! At this point in our lives it’s exactly what we were looking for in an RV. It is relatively easy for us to use (not too many differences in the equipment of a fifth wheel vs a motorhome) and we are absolutely adjusting to the driving. When we are sitting in our new Grand Design Solitude Fifth Wheel with the fireplace on, enjoying a cup of coffee, we truly feel at home. Even our dog Billie loved it!
We highly recommend Triple R RV Resort as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They are a family run (which we prefer), pet friendly facility welcoming everyone to try the Triple R experience. They pride ourselves in being the cleanest, most service oriented facility in the country with onsite RV service and a well stocked RV parts store. Rated by Good Sam/Trailer life as a 10-10*-10, putting Triple R in the top 1% of all the campgrounds in the US. The resort offers many sites with terrific views, hiking trails, volleyball, poole, basketball and tons of family activities. We found the staff to be extremely friendly! The owner, John, even helped us back into our spot! We already decided that we will be back next year! Likely on the Columbus Day weekend to enjoy the changing of the leaves as its such a beautiful location.
There’s nothing better than setting goals and fulfilling them, with your best friend at your side. Life is Grand!
