A: RVing for our family is about being together and going on an adventure. We are a busy blended family! We have two chiropractic offices, a fitness center, teach fitness classes, have two kids in college and run after kids and their activities! Phew! Life is great and our time together in the RV is priceless. We get away for up to 5 weeks throughout the year to travel in the RV. We are not your typical RVers. We like to “glamp”. In other words, we use the RV like a hotel on wheels. It is our way to see the country in style!
Q: How long have you been RVing?
A: We purchased our first RV in 2008. It was a Winnebago Access Class C model. We have been loving RVing ever since! We are now in a Class A Coachman Encounter.
Q: Do you use your RV for sporting events; ie, Football tailgating, NASCAR etc?
A: No, but wouldn’t say no to it. We typically RV for vacations throughout the US and Canada.
Q: Are there any “must haves” for your family while looking for an RV?
A: The Pignatora family loves luxury, style and space. There are six of us (some are 6’3 tall) so we need space for storage, sleeping for six, full size fridge, and all the amenities. As mentioned, we “glamp” so we like apartment/hotel style living with nice finishes. For example: fireplace, granite/corian countertops, updated décor/colors, tvs, etc. Always enjoy seeing what’s new in the RV world each year!
Q: How much does it mean to you to be able to take your pet with you?
A: It is very important. We take Billie on all of our trips- she is a cute little Norwich terrier who loves RVing as much as we do!
Q: What convenience do you like best about RVing?
A: It is a fun and affordable way for our larger family to travel. Our RV is our hotel, restaurant and airplane. It’s our “everything”!
Q: Who was your inspiration to get into RVing?
A: We found we were only getting away for about a week a year. It felt like we were living to work, not working to live. Being self-employed can be all encompassing, plus our busy lives with the kids took over the rest of our time. We decided to reprioritize our lives. We have always wanted to RV, but thought we would do that when we retire. After checking out some models at a local dealer, seeing all of the pros to travelling this way versus buying into a time share or cottage, we jumped in to RVing head first. Life has only improved! It brought our family together, we have made amazing memories, with many more to come. We think it says something that even our 18 and 20 year old kids want to continue to travel with the family!
Q: Are you planning or would you ever consider being a "full-time" RVer?
Q: Do you stay in one place for weeks or months at a time? Where?
A: We try to take up to five weeks away per year. We do travel to Disneyworld each year for two weeks and stay at Fort Wilderness on property. The rest of the trips we try new places, or revisit parks we loved. We have been to Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Maine, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and more!
Q: What is the longest trip you have taken?
A: The longest trip has been 2 ½ weeks. Being self employed this is about the longest we can take with our business responsibilities.
Q: What is the average length of time (mileage) of trip you make with your RV?
A: Anywhere from 30 miles to 1000 miles each way!
Q: What item would you add to your RV?
A: Would love to add an entertainment center to the outside of the RV (tv, fridge etc). Also enjoyed seeing the L shaped couches in the newer models at this year’s show.
Q: Did you purchase anything at America’s Largest RV Show?
A: We did, we purchased an RV cleaner called HaRVey…it’s amazing!
Q: While visiting America’s Largest RV Show, what RV features were you surprised with?
A: We always enjoy seeing what is new in next year’s models. It was great to see what is becoming “standard” in most Class A models (what used to be upgrades and priced higher). Loved the drop down beds over the driver/passenger seats, the outside entertainment centers, the finishes in the models from the counters to the woodwork, and full size fridges. So many of our needs to travel in style and comfort are now available in most models.
Q: Are you planning on coming to next year's America's Largest RV Show?
A: Would love to!
Q: What was your favorite part of America’s Largest RV Show?
A: To be honest, it was filming RV2015! We did love going through all the RV’s and checking out the vendors.
Q: What was your favorite part of being an HGTV family? It’s hard to even put this into words.
A: We are not sure what we were expecting the experience to be- but we came home overwhelmed by how amazing it really was for our family. First, it was incredible to even be chosen as a family to be on one of our favorite shows (seriously, we dvr this show every January). However, what stands out the most in retrospect is the relationships we made with the crew and host in such a short amount of time. Our family went there to work hard, be ourselves and make HGTVs job easy. This was not hard to do, because they are such a fun, special group of people. We would do it again in a second. What an amazing memory we made as a family- much like what our RV trips have done for us as well.
